There is! The USDA provides a local food directory listing. You just put in your zip code, and it will show you the markets within a certain mile distance.
This was discovered after seeing a posting in HortiDaily, featuring a Marine Veteran turned farmer who was highlighted for National Farmers Market Week.
Garfield Jarret served in the Marine Corps. When he returned, he earned degrees in social work, but more importantly, he learned about FIU Veterans and Small Farmers Outreach Program (VeSFO) which is funded by USDA. VeSFO provides veterans, socially disadvantaged, and new farmers in South Florida technical information, farming skills, and access to government assistance programs.
Since 2014, Jarret has been the happy owner of Cool Runnings Organic Farms, whose products are found at local markets and restaurants in his area.
