Dosie on the High Line

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

At Dosatron, we’re committed to green initiatives, sustainability, and the three Rs: renew, reuse, and recycle.  That’s why we were so intrigued when we first heard about the High Line, a public park built on a 1.45-mile-long elevated rail structure on Manhattan’s West Side. According to the park’s website, the High Line ceased operation as a rail line in 1980, and was slated for demolition in 1999, when a group of community activists calling themselves Friends of the High Line began working with local authorities to get the stretch of land turned into a park. The project won its first public support in 2002, and the park opened to the public for the first time in June 2009.

This type of community renewal project is important to Dosatron, so we were thrilled to learn that the High Line has been using the Dosatron DosaCart this summer for applying compost tea to their densely packed landscape. The mobility of the DosaCart, which they fondly refer to as Dosie, allows the gardening team to easily transport compost tea in the DosaCart tank and plug into any of the water valves along the High Line.

Notable Customers: Hunter’s Moon Farm

One of our favorite things here at Dosatron HQ is when we hear from happy, satisfied customers who have used our products to reap new success in their business.

Recently, we had the pleasure of hearing from Hunter’s Moon Farm in Oak Harbor, WA.  Hunter’s Moon grows late-season blueberries (which they tell us are the sweetest of the season), with a special focus on sustainability and organic growing.  They’ve even kept half of their 10-acre farm natural to help foster sustainability!

Here’s what Hunter’s Moon Farm has to say about Dosatron:

Three years ago, when we started to plant our five acres with blueberries, we knew that sustainability was important to us, but just as important was the need for our drip irrigation system to accurately fertilize the roots using our organic compost tea.

That’s where Dosatron came in. It is perfect for drip line fertilization. Best of all, it’s water-powered, so it’s sustainable AND saves us time and money!

We’re so proud to be a part of Hunter’s Moon Farm’s success. Green initiatives and sustainability are incredibly important to us as well, so we’re honored to be a part of Hunter’s Moon Farm’s outstanding initiative.
