Troubleshooting Tips
1. Why can't I just send my piston in for repair?
The service department needs to see the whole unit to make a complete estimate of what is wrong with the unit and what may have caused the problem. The piston might not tell the whole story. The bell housing or body may be scored and repair of the piston in this case would not solve the problem. Every unit is thoroughly tested before shipping to the customer.

2. Why isn't my unit clicking?
Could be any or all of the following: Low flow, broken spring, piston shells worn, poly-sheets swollen, missing 0-rings, or the unit could be on bypass or a problem with the piston motor. Call Customer Service at 1-800-523-8499 or send unit to Technical Services.

3. My unit clicked twice and then stopped, why?
Unit may have been started too quickly or you may have a broken spring. Turn water off and turn it on slowly or see your Owner's Manual, page to reset your piston.

4. My unit draws up solution, but drops it back down. Why?
The parts in the check valve could be damaged, missing, installed incorrectly or the valve could be kept open by debris or the injection hose may not be hooked up properly. Replace defective parts as necessary. Change dosing seal kit. Pay particular attention to the seal and cone.

5. Why is my unit squeaking loudly?
There is not enough lubricity in the unit between the piston and the bell housing. Adding a small amount of liquid detergent or wetting agent in the solution could be helpful here as well.

6. Why does the unit under inject?
Low flow, solution too viscous, air leaks or improperly mixed stock solutions, worn dosing seals and stem. Worn seals and air leaks are the main causes. Adjust the unit to where the injection rate is correct and continues to test the unit for accuracy. If rates continue to diminish, new seals are needed.

7. What can be done if my unit is new and will not work?
1. Make sure the valve on the outlet side is open so that the water can flow through the unit.
2. Make sure the arrow at the base of the body is pointing in the direction of the water-flow.
3. Also, make sure all the protective caps have been taken off, including the small red one on the injection tube.
4. If all else fails, call us at 1-800-523-8499 and we will solve the problem.

8. Can I use glue to fix a crack?
Due to the pressures inside the unit, this is not recommended. It more than likely will slip through. The bond is not strong enough to withhold the pressures. Cracked parts need to be replaced.

9. Why is the unit leaking at the black nut under the body?
The diffuser is not properly aligned inside the body, call us for assistance.

10. What could cause pinholes on the body of my unit?
This is due to acid or other corrosive splashing onto the unit. Chemical deterioration is the likeliest answer. You may need to change to the PVDF body or flush out the unit after every use.

11. Can you send me a loaner while my unit is in for repair?
We do not have a loaner unit program. Please contact Customer Serivce at 1-800-523-8499.

12. Why does the injection stem blow out of the unit?
The medium nut is loose or cracked; too much pressure or flow going through the unit. Most of the time this is caused from water-hammer in the system. Try closing the valves slowly. If this solves your problem you need to install a check valve after the outlet of your unit.

13. What could cause a horizontal crack along the base of the body of the unit?
Could be caused by acid contained in chemicals and/or by water hammer. If the crack is discolored, it is due to acid not being flushed. Watch for discoloration.Chemical deterioration is the likeliest answer. If the body is discolored and/or the plastic has been attacked, you may need to change to the PVDF body or flush out the unit after every use.

14. Why does water leak back into the stock tank?
Check the check valve assembly; you could have worn seals, a blockage or missing parts. Check the injection hose to make sure it is completely attached.
