| INSTALLATION |
| 1. What additional equipment is recommended for optimal performance? |
A 200 mesh (80 micron) filter installed upstream of your unit. A pressure regulator for use if in-line water pressure exceeds the maximum allowable for the unit. A one-way check valve may be helpful against water hammer.

|
| 2. Can I permanently plumb the unit into the waterline? |
Yes, but it is recommended to put it on a bypass. Always have a way of taking your unit off the line in case of malfunction or maintenance.
|
| 3. How are the units mounted or held in place? |
Each unit comes complete with a mounting bracket in which the unit snaps into easily and securely. In addition, a Velcro strap is included to add extra stability for portable installations.
|
| 4. Why is there water in my dispenser/injector? |
Each unit is tested prior to shipping.
|
| 5. Do I need to purge the air on the Dosatron every time at startup? |
Only at the initial start-up or installation. The water-flow going through the unit is enough to make the air go out of the unit.

|
| 6. How do I calculate mixing my fertilizer? |

| MAINTENANCE |
| 1. I have an old unit, can I still get parts for it? |
Yes. We have all the necessary parts available and you can have them as soon as tomorrow.
|
| 2. Are there any guidelines for preventative maintenance? |
Use a 200-mesh filter.
Turn water on to the unit slowly.
Keep strainer at the end of the long clear intake hose 2-3 inches up off the bottom of the stock tank (to avoid pulling up undiluted concentrate).
Inject clean water after use.
Replace dosing seal kit which includes cone and spring in check valve seal kit every year.
|
| 3. What is the life expectancy for the units? |
The life of the unit depends upon water quality, chemicals injected and preventative maintenance performed.
|
| 4. What is the life expectancy for the seals? |
Dosing seals get the most wear. They should be replaced every year, or sooner depending on chemical injected.
|
| 5.How much should I spend on a repair? Or should I just get a new unit? |
Depends on the unit. It is usually recommended to buy a new unit if the repair cost is equal to half or more of the cost of a new unit. If less than half, we would suggest it be repaired.

| OPERATIONAL INQUIRIES |
| 1. Which unit will fit on the Dosa-Cart? |
The cart has pre-drilled holes to accept any of the 7 GPM, 11 GPM, and 20 GPM models. The 20 GPM on the cart requires a MB20 GPM mounting bracket. The cart can be further adapted to accept the D8R.

|
| 2. Is there a different type of body with female threads? |
No.
|
| 3. Can I buy a longer section of intake hose? |
Yes, we have a fully stocked inventory.
|
| 4. What can I do to stop my unit from stalling at low flow rates? |
Refer to flow parameters. Check to see if piston shells need to be changed – look for scoring or wear in the body and on the piston flange. Do you have a 200 mesh filter to protect from scoring?
|
| 5. Can acid be injected? |
Most acids can be injected; depending upon the concentration of the acid and water temperatures. With each increase of 1 degree Celsius, acid aggressively increases 10 fold. No more than 5% acid should be injected. Infuric and Hydro-fluoric acids are not recommended on our standard units, but PVDF, Side /Inject and Hastelloy options allow for these.
|
| 6. How do I increase my capacity? |
If your flow needs have doubled, you can buy a larger unit or install a parallel system. A parallel assembly will work up to a maximum of three units.
|
| 7. What are the diameters available on the intake hose? |
1/4” (6 mm), 1/2” (12 mm), 3/4” (20 mm). Different models have different sizes.
|
| 8. How long can the suction hose be from the unit and still work? |
Twenty-five feet maximum horizontally and 13 feet vertically.
|
| 9. Can I put units in parallel and inject different solutions? |
This is not recommended, but it can be done as long the setup includes a pressure regulator between the water source and each unit.
|
| 10. How thick of a solution will the units pull? |
It depends upon parameters such as use, temperature, and how much flow you need. Request a Material Safety Data Sheet to analyze the situation.
|
| 11. Is there an easy way to determine flow through the unit? |
Count each click, see click chart in Owners Manual or call us toll free at 1-800-523-8499.
|
| 12. What does PVDF stand for? |
Polyvinylidene Fluoride. It is a mixture of Teflon and Polypropylene, that is used when injecting corrosive materials.
|
| 13. Can I buy any O-ring or seal instead of a Dosatron part? |
We do not recommend this, as it will void your warranty. Dosatron cannot guarantee the quality of those seals. Dosatron seals are made to standards that meet the needs of our units.
|
| 14. How do I choose the right unit for my application? |
It depends on water-flow, injection rate needed, chemical being injected, pressure needed. Call us toll free at 1-800-523-8499 and we can help assess your needs.
|
| 15. What is the use of the suction strainers for? |
To avoid particles from being injected into the unit. Strainer must be elevated off the bottom of the stock tank at least 4” or above the sediment line.
|
| 16. What is the maximum water temperature that can flow through the unit? |
104 Degrees Fahrenheit is the maximum recommended threshold.
